Programs for Singers

6 Week Summer Opera Intensive (May 21st - June 30th, 2013) - $2350.00

Designed for Canadian Singers, who are of advanced standing with considerable previous training, this intensive program is a must for singers who wish to focus on further developing technique while simultaneously working on their performance skills.

These comprehensive programs provide instruction in creative process, acting, movement, Alexander technique, diction, language and vocal interpretation taught by distinguished faculty who are experts in their field. Our guest teachers, who are internationally recognized artists, give daily mini-master classes, public forum master classes and private voice lessons.

In addition to classes, private coachings and lessons, this program provides artists with the opportunity to learn and perform a complete role in a fully staged opera (performed with orchestra). The intensive mirrors a professional experience in that singers are expected to prepare their role prior to arriving. Music and staging rehearsals begin on the first day of the program.

At Opera NUOVA we are committed to honouring the integrity of the student. For this reason, we do not select the production that we will produce until after auditions are held. This allows us to select a production that fits the singers that we admit to the program rather than selecting singers that fit our production.

1 Week Program Mini NUOVA Opera Intensive (May 13th - 18th, 2013) - $850.00

The one week Mini-NUOVA intensive was introduced in 2010 to 24 participants. The program has been designed to offer participants, who NUOVA is unable to place in the six week program, an opportunity to experience the intensive environment for which Opera NUOVA has garnered an esteemed reputation.

For six days, 12 hours per day, the participants will receive diction classes with Nico Castel, creative process with Carol Castel, acting classes with Brian Deedrick, alexander technique with Candace Cox, movement classes with Marie Nychka, scene study classes with Kim Mattice Wanat, mini-masterclasses and private lessons with vocal faculty of the six week program.

The Mini-NUOVA intensive culminates with a public performance on the final evening.
