Biography     

Canadian stage director, Rob Herriot, was last with Opera NUOVA in 2013 for Don Giovanni. His busy schedule has included productions of of Rigoletto, Lucia di Lammermoor, La Boheme, Carmen (Manitoba Opera), La Traviata (Opera Hamilton), Carmen (Arizona Opera), Don Pasquale (Opera Hamilton, Connecticut Opera, and Utah Opera) Pirates of Penzance, La Fille Du Regiment, HMS Pinafore (Edmonton Opera-winner of a Sterling Award for Outstanding Musical of the Season),Tosca and The Mikado , both nominated for the Sterling Award’s Best Musical Production 2011/2012 and Barber of Seville (Calgary Opera) which was nominated for a Betty Mitchell award for Best Musical of 2008/2009 season.

Rob was also the Director-in-Residence for Opera on the Avalon (2009-2012) in St. John’s NL where he directed productions of Albert Herring, Marriage of Figaro, Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi. Early in his career he assisted with Vancouver Opera, Lyric Opera of Kansas City and San Diego Opera. He directed his first musical, Little Women for Dry Cold Productions and recently returned to the stage in a production of Annie for Canada’s largest outdoor theatre, Rainbow Stage. A graduated of the University of Toronto’s Music Faculty, he began his career on the stage in performance before turning his attention to directing.
